P.S. auto tuneing is pure bullshit! vista is thier 1st attempt at controlling my tcp.ip settings and I am ANGRY! I have to go to elevated command prompts to turn this crap off! then "I" dictate how my internet connects. b4 my last crash totally my fault I had vista running at x6 normal speeeds blink of an eye page loads. Anyways. back to work. Have to find the elevated command line to turn this damned heuristics crap off. google heuristics.

cause! auto tuneing is microsucks "dictating" how large my recieve window can be! I run mine at x8 times the highest recommended size! I had to deactivate the heuristics last time I loaded windows vista. keep in mind! xp pro=450 megs tops vista= 4 gigs! who the fuck knows what the fuck is going on in there! I started programming at 18 I am in my late 40s. all auto tuneing is is microsucks way of stopping "you" from running "your" computer and "your" copy of windows how you want instead of how microsucks wants!

Out of curiosity, why do you want to turn off TCP window auto-tuning?

If I understand correctly, some people had problems with auto-tuning in the past, because auto-tuning sometimes caused TCP Window Scaling to be used, and some (broken) devices such as firewalls have trouble with that.

Vista SP2 is supposed to add a feature that "now interprets current network conditions when implementing Windows[sic] scaling." (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335036(WS.10).aspx).

So SP2 should make it unnecessary to turn off TCP window auto-tuning, at least if the problem is boxes that have trouble with Window Scaling.
